Plastic Waste Reduction

Step 1. Identify relevant departments: Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Library, City Manager, Mayor

Step 2. Review sustainability goals in your municipal Master Plan 

You may have already done this if you worked on Plastic Waste Reduction Committees efforts.

Step 3. Reach out to the Department Head to request a meeting.

• • Review existing purchasing policies

  • Provide alternatives for food service items, waste cans, park benches

  • Discuss community-level opportunities for plastic waste reduction like ‘Beyond the Bin’ collection events and education programs

  • Ask what you can do to help with plastic pollution reduction
